Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker, was an American serial killer who would break into homes in California, raping and torturing his victims. Ramirez was born in El Paso, Texas on February 28th, 1960. He lived to be 53, dying on June 7th, 2013. Richard Ramirez was the youngest of seven children of a Catholic family. The bad influences came into Ramirez’s life when his older cousin, Mike, returned from fighting in the Vietnam War. Upon Mike’s return, he began talking to Ramirez, and telling him stories of when he was fighting. Mike began to tell him the “fascinating” stories of the torture and mutilation, that he had inflicted on Vietnamese women.
Ramirez started changing after he started spending time with his cousin, the start of this were the stories that Mike had told him. The two began talking and discussing satanic worship and smoke marijuana, and with that Ramirez’s teenage rebellion began. He began with petty crimes to help support his drug habits, this lead to an increased amount of time that he spent with his cousin Mike. Mike not only told him stories about what he had done during the Vietnam War, but he also allowed Ramirez to be present when he murdered his wife. This was the final development of the future serial killer he would become.

Ramirez repeated his attack on William and Lillie Doi in April 1985. In the following two months Ramirez claimed another dozen victims in a frenzy of burglary, assault and brutal violence. Following this the press forced the police to increase their efforts. The relentless media and police pressure, aided with a photo-fit descriptions, Ramirez was forced to leave Los Angeles, and head back to San Francisco which was to the North.
