Cry Liberty: The Great Stono-River Slave Rebellion of 1739 was written by Professor Peter C. Hoffer, who taught as a historian at the University of Georgia. This novel is a brief, yet very informative piece of work that provides a re-examination of a series of incidents that occurred during the Stono Rebellion (which transpired on September 9, 1739). This rebellion manifested once a group of about 20 slaves had broken into a store alongside the Stono River, nearby Charles Town, which is now known as Charleston, South Carolina. The author did an excellent job recreating events in this book and developing the question of whether or not it was actually a rebellion.
This book was first published in 1989 by Elie Wiesel. Elie Wiesel is a jewish writer who was born in 1928 in Sighetu Marmației, Transylvania, which is apart of Romania. Him and his family were deported by the Nazis to Auschwitz in which him and his two older sisters survived. At first I was selecting a book to get it over with, but after I’ve read the story I started to take interest in it.
Charles Perkins played a major role in the Freedom Ride in order to shape Australian society from the 1960’s onwards. His key role in the Freedom Ride allowed him to successfully advocate for the desegregation of Australian institutions and towns as well as to reduce the amount of discrimination against Indigenous Australians. He endeavoured to make a change in Australian society, and wanted to expose the true nature of discrimination and segregation against Indigenous Australians. He wanted to gain the rights and freedom for his people, and effectively achieved those goals. Therefore, Charles Perkins did play a major role in the Freedom Ride from the 1960’s onwards, resulting in the improvement of Australian society.

Chapter 11: Crazy Horse goes on a raiding spree into Crow territory for several weeks along with his brother, Little Hawk, and Red Cloud, High Back Bone, and other Lakota. They dominate every camp they come across and become a real force of the land. Crazy Horse saves many of his fellow warriors over the trip and gains more respect from others. Upon returning home, he receives news that Black Buffalo Woman decided her husband would be a boy named No Water. He becomes heartbroken by her decision and stays in his parents’ lodge for several days.
How is freedom defined? In The Violent Bear it Away, Flannery O’Connor explores the impacts of religious influence in relation to the secular world. O’Connor, a devout Catholic, very clearly shares a similar perspective as the religious great uncle, Mason Tarwater. Mason’s great nephew, Francis Tarwater (simply referred to as Tarwater for most of the novel), struggles with the perspectives of both his great uncle and his uncle, a secular teacher (referred to as Rayber. Both Mason Tarwater and Rayber preach what they believe freedom is.

If I were a runaway slave, standing in a forest at midnight, I would follow these instructions just like the four slaves did in Runaway to Freedom: A Story of the Underground Railway by Barbara Smucker.
Stereotypes, could potentially affect oneself performance still in today's society. Claude Steele, the author of Whistling Vivaldi, a research book base on research of stereotypes, stereotype threat, social identity, and social contingencies, reports that there are remedies to stereotype threat, including self affirmation, creating identity safety and changing your narrative. Expanding on steels remedies, my contribution on dealing with stereotype threat, are based on what he shared in Whistling Vivaldi. In chapter 9 of Whistling Vivaldi, titled "A New Hope", was filed with ways of reducing stereotype threat. One of the main concepts Steele's introduced, self affirmation, which is very similar to the concept of having a backbone.

The African-American Civil Rights Movement was very influential in its time; and more specifically, the Freedom Rides that took place were the epitome of the movement that brought down the racial barriers of segregation. This paper specifically focuses on the precursor events to the Freedom Rides, the major events that took place during the rides, and how the effects of the rides shaped history and redefined civil rights in modern-day America. Leading up to the Freedom Rides, the Supreme Court issued two rulings that denounced Plessy v. Ferguson, which were Irene Morgan v. The Commonwealth of Virginia and Boynton v. Virginia. After some time meeting, they plan to go on a date and later, they become a pair.
In May 1961, a diverse group of people set out to change the segregation throughout the United States, especially in the South, where segregation was at its highest peak. These diverse people were known as the Freedom Riders. Their purpose and there goals were to bring the idea and movement of the group to the South, in the hopes that it’ll stop the raging war between races in those Southern states. The Freedom Riders also hoped to grab political attention, from their current President at the time, John F Kennedy. They wanted his attention because at the time he was highly focused on world problems such as the Cold War.
In the autobiography of “My Bondage and My Freedom” by Frederick Douglass”, the word victimization use by Frederick, is describing a particular person being a “victim”, a hopeless person that is unknown to the world system with no identity. As a result, slaves were people being victimized by the slavery system, including slave owners and non- slave owners. Although, African American were the main victims being discriminated by their character, why does Douglass believed that the slave owners and non- slave owners were also under the category of being victimize by the system? What common themes bond together the literary works of the 1800’s? Frederick Douglass and Kate Chopin both realized that people were not being treated fairly and thus it influenced their writing. Through personal experiences and observations Frederick Douglass conveyed how African Americans in My Bondage and My Freedom were treated unfairly. Kate Chopin used the plot to show how women were treated unfairly in “The Story of an Hour”. My Bondage and My Freedom by Frederick Douglass tells of some of the experiences he went through as a slave.
