Robert Oppenheimer was born on April 22nd, 1904, in New York. His family later on would have another son named Frank. His family had an apartment and ,as a boy, loved that he had servants for his every need. Soon he was very interested in science at age five after he visited his grandparents in Germany. His grandpa had given him a bag of minerals and that is when he became a rock collector. His parents sent him to the best school in New York , Ethical Culture Society. He had a very wise and noble teacher to guide him. He was then fascinated by physics, even though he wanted to be a chemist, and wanted to explore more. His classmate persuaded him to take chemistry with him. But he did that later on in the year. Soon later he would love what he was doing for the rest of his days. Afterwards he graduated from Harvard and went to England to pursue his dreams. He applied to work at the laboratory at Cambridge University. He was assigned to work for J.J. Thompson a famous physician and was credited for discovering atoms. After he worked for him he just didn’t think it was his thing. But soon he would use it during world war II against Europe. He soon married and had a daughter who was full of excitement. That’s when the war began. On the news he saw that Pearl Harbor had been bombed, and soon took action. The Japanese would advance in war tactics, but not in wins. We had the upperhand with Oppenheimer. When they first tested the bomb it was a success and he later called it “Trinity” . Then he had a second daughter whom he would love after he died. Soon near the end of World War II they dropped the bombs on Japan. The U.S celebrated and mourned for their loved ones . Oppenheimer retired but he didn’t stop smoking and a few years after he died of lung cancer. We shall remember Oppenheimer not just as a hero but as a true american
