The roles of masculinity, specifically the Beast and Gaston, held a similar meaning in the 2017 version of the films. The same concepts of creating the ideal male is present in this version, such as the handsome qualities and wealth, however, the Beast shows more qualities of being caring towards Belle and to be be interested in her dreams. This is shown specifically when the Beast uses his magic book, to allow Belle to find out the truth about her mother and to come to terms with what happened (2017, 01:16:10-01:19:34). This shows that in this contemporary version of the film, the Beast showed more compassion to Belle and valued her interests.
