Everyone has courage inside of them they just have to show it. Roll of thunder hear my cry introduces Cassie,a young girl who is willing to go above and beyond to fight the injustice of segregation, and to face her broadest fears. Cassie Logan has many courageous moments in this book but the three most challenging moments are standing up to Lillian Jean, Standing up for little man, and standing up for herself at the barnett store. Through Cassie´s actions she has proved she loves her family, loves the land, and knows that segregation is NOT RIGHT. She knows that equal rights is not an option in that day and age, but she will still try to make a difference in the world.

Taylor African Americans were discriminated by whites in the 1933 in Mississippi. Throughout the novel, the Logan children face many real and fake relationships. They realized that true friends support you no matter what. Having a fake friend is at no time a positive thing.
Cassie, in the beginning of the story, was unaware of racism and was sheltered from it and didn’t know how bad racism was. For example, she was really open-mouthed and was very stubborn and could not really control her behavior. One example of this can be found in the following quotation, “Sit down! She ordered as I hurried toward her with an open book in hand.” (Taylor 26)
There were many examples where Cassie didn’t make the right choice about what to say and do. Cassie thought that she can talk back to white people, but she isn’t supposed to. Most black people know their rights, how they get treated and how they should treat other people, but Cassie doesn’t. This chapter revealed that she didn’t know that because she acted as if everyone had equal rights. Cassie needs to learn about her rights, because she could get into a lot of trouble if she says something to the wrong person.
What makes people grow up? Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor is set during the Great Depression, in the rural areas of Mississippi. The majority of the people in this community are sharecroppers, who are greatly dependent on plantation farming. However, the Logan families own their own land. Cassie tries to understand with her family what racism is.

As a result, he is no longer oblivious and begins to make selfless innovations for the suffering African community around him.
