Revenge is a sweet and sour situation. It feels good to get revenge, but most don’t prepare for the repercussions. In the story Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry , there are many incidences of revenge. During the story revenge happens after friendships are broken and discrimination occurs. Though times have changed revenge is still emanate and a problem to everyone. (COME BACK TO THIS LATER) When racism occurs the people being discriminated against will get revenge, but in turn will pay the consequences. This holds true in Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, with many incidences of revenge through racism. The Logan children took revenge on the whites by digging a hole for the bus to crash into. After the bus crashed, the white children all got soaked and sadly walked home from the rain. The Logan kids were ecstatic on the success and said ‘How sweet was well maneuvered revenge!’ the revenge was taken but it would come around to frighten them. This is shown in Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry through Stacey and TJ. TJ made cheat notes to copy off of and Stacey said to never pass him those notes because Stacey didn’t want to cheat. But TJ still passed him the notes during the test and even though Stacey never used them he got caught with them on his desk. As Stacey was being reprimanded TJ sat in silence as shown by this quote “’And ole TJ just sat there and ain’t said a word”. (72) This caused Stacey to seek revenge. Stacey hunted TJ down and beat him up shown here ‘Stacey didn’t let him finish jumping up, Stacey smashed TJ in the face.’ The revenge was painful for Stacey and TJ but the consequence was far there loyalty for each other was broken. Though one day their relationship will be mended there will forever be a crack. Consequences can also be things you have no control over, revenge is also taken when boundaries are
