Suspense/Mystery/Thriller - a romance novel riddled with suspense and/or mystery
Contemporary- a romance novel set in or after the late 20th century
Historical- a romance novel set in or before the early 20th century. This can also include regency romance novels, which center around the British royal family.
Erotic- a romance novel with “strong, often explicit, sexual interaction” (“About the Romance Genre”)
Paranormal- a romance novel with supernatural or sci-fi elements
Young Adult- a romance novel with young adult lovers, geared toward (but not limited to) young adult readers
