The play begins in Verona, a town in Italy where two Families the Montague and the Capulet have been feuding for as long as anyone can remember. The Chorus tells us how the children of the two families will fall in love and before the play ends how these "pair of star-cross'd lovers" will commit suicide thus, putting an end to the feud. On the street two servant of Montague and two servants of the Capulet are initiating a fight. Benvolio tries to stop them but Tybalt arrives and demand a duel with Benvolio. Reluctantly, Benvolio agrees and draw his sword and begins to fight. Soon after the Montague and Capulet arrive and immediately join in the clash. Juliet’s Nurse begins to talk about Juliet when she was a young child. Lady Capulet asks Juliet how she feels about marriage and Juliet respond that it an honor but she would not like to marry yet. Lady Capulet start telling Juliet she has to start thinking in being a bride and a mother and how other girl younger than her are already married and have children, She then adds they already have a suitor, Count Paris, Juliet with little Choice agrees to consider Paris as her future husband. The festivities begin at Capulet’s house amidst Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio arrive at the party hiding their faces with masks. Romeo still burden with love refuses to dance with his friends. Mercutio tell Romeo he was visited by Queen Mab, a fairy who goes up people noses while they sleep. Romeo is not amused tells him that he is talking nonsense. Romeo cannot shake the feeling that “fate” may have something bad in store for him. Lord Capulet comes out to great his guest and tell them to enjoy themselves. Romeo seeking Rosalina through the crowd see Juliet instead. He is left speechless and forgets about Rosaline and falls in love at first sight.
