How would you feel if love was forbidden for you because of the rivalry of your and your lover’s family? Would you obey your parents or rebel against their opinions and stick with your true love? It’s a pretty hard decision but in the Poem “Pyramus and Thisbe” and the Play “Romeo and Juliet” these characters have a few similarities and differences on the plot, character and conflict, how they managed to love each other, disagreed against the tragedy of their families, and the conclusion on how it all ended. The drama of the play shares many similarities with the narrative poem. One, Love is the main theme for both tales. In both the play and poem, the lovers used their heart to love, not their head. Also, Romeo And Juliet’s families are against each other like in Pyramus and Thisbe. Then, the two main characters are prevented to be in love due to the rivalry of their families. Both lovers in each tale misunderstood about their love’s death. In the poem, Pyramus misunderstood Thisbe’s death because there were a few clues showing death but she wasn’t dead, as in the play, Romeo thought Juliet was dead because …show more content…

First, both lovers from the play and poem differ from communications. In Pyramus and Thisbe, they knew each other through a fissure on the wall but in Romeo and Juliet, they communicate with each other by the Nurse and Friar Lawrence. In the play, Romeo and Juliet fell in love at first sight but the two lovers in the poem were in love ever since they were children. There were different tragic endings between the two. Romeo drinks poison to kill himself due to the thought of Juliet’s death unlike Pyramus from the poem, he saw evidence of Thisbe being dead so he stabs himself in the guts and died. Also, the girls in the tales, Juliet stabs herself and died with Romeo’s unused dagger. In the poem, Thisbe uses the same dagger Pyramus used to kill himself, but Thisbe leaned against the dagger to commit
