William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet is a timeless tragedy that tells the story of two young lovers from rival families who ultimately meet their tragic end. While the play features a large cast of characters, three of the most significant are Romeo, Juliet, and Tybalt. Each of these characters has a tragic flaw that ultimately contributes to the sad end of the play. A tragic flaw is demonstrated by Romeo who falls in love too quickly, eventually leading to his death. It is also shown with Tybalt who is very stubborn and reckless, leading to his end. Juliet also portrays a tragic flaw, as she is very impulsive when making decisions, leading to her death. Juliet is a young woman who is forced to choose between her loyalty to her family and her love for Romeo. Juliet later sees that her love for Romeo leads to her killing herself. “ These violent delights have violent ends and their triumph die, like fire and powder, which as they kiss consume” (2.6.9-11). This quote is showing that Juliet is willing to risk everything to be with Romeo, which later at the end of the book, leads to Juliet killing herself. Her tragic flaw is her loyalty toward Romeo. In conclusion, the tragic flaws of Romeo, Juliet, and Tybalt all contribute to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo’s impulsivity leads him to make bad decisions that ultimately lead to his banishment and, later, his death. Juliet’s Naivete leads her to trust in Rome’s plans without fully considering the consequences, which ultimately leads to her death. Finally, Tybalts pride leads him to engage in a fatal duel with Romeo, which ultimately leads to his own death. The character's flaw is the reason why all of these tragic events have happened. In the book all of their flaws causes something bad to happen. For example, Romeo's impulsivity causes him to kill Tybalt and get banished from Verona. Juliet's flaw causes her to kill herself because she can’t live without Romeo and she sees him dead with a knife in his chest. Tybalt being hot-headed leads to Romeo killing him and killing seven others.
