Prosecuting Romeo Andrew Dornack, as prosecutor of Summit County, Ohio, do charge Romeo Montague with voluntary manslaughter for the death of Tybalt Capulet and Count Paris. Tybalt Capulet was murdered by Romeo Montague after a swordfight derived from the death of Mercutio, who was Romeo’s best friend. Romeo had a sudden rage of anger after Mercutio was killed and Romeo then went on to fight Tybalt and killed him. Voluntary manslaughter says that a person shall not murder anyone “while under the sudden passion or in a sudden fit of rage.” This matches exactly what Romeo did.
“Yea, noise? Then i’ll be brief. Oh happy dagger! This thy sheath: there rust, let me die.” , the last words of Juliet Capulet.
Involuntary manslaughter in the unintentional killing that is a result of reckless behavior that is dangerous to others. In order to be proven guilty of manslaughter, someone had to have been killed as a result of the action, the person’s action was dangerous to their surroundings, and the person involved in the action knew it was dangerous to the life around them. If it were not for the friar, nurse, and Balthasar to take these actions, Romeo and Juliet would not have committed suicide. Therefore, the friar, nurse, and Balthasar, are all guilty in either Romeo or Juliet’s death, because they all fall under the three conditions of involuntary manslaughter.
In William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet there are many different forces to blame for the tragic deaths of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. Some might say the haste of the young lovers is to blame, others might say it was the feud between the Montague and Capulet families that brought on the tragic deaths. I believe that it was the Capulet parents that are to blame. I feel this because they tried forcing Juliet into an arranged marriage while she was grieving the death of her cousin, they threatened to disown her if she didn’t follow through with the marriage, and nobody, not even the nurse, was there to comfort her and give her the help and advice she needed. In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare presents the idea that love
Responsibility means our ability to make a decision that satisfy ourselves and others, and to take the consequences for the action. When people hear the word “responsibility”, most people associated it with the word, blame. When something happens, people would say “Whose responsibility is this?”. In the book, Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence and the Nurse are trying to help Romeo and Juliet get married, unfortunately they both suicide in the end and I believe that Friar Laurence and the Nurse are responsible for their death.
Even though fate and destiny bear some responsibility for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, the impact love had on their brains is to blame since it possessed them and made them take more risks. When Romeo and Juliet first fell in love with each other, their love possessed them, which influenced them to make the decisions that led to their deaths. For instance, in a TED Talk titled “The Brain in Love,” Helen Fisher explains how romantic love can cause one to lose their “sense of self” and not be able to “stop thinking about another human being” (Doc C). This describes how romantic love can possess one, causing them to make poor decisions they wouldn’t normally make.
The moral decisions made by Friar Lawrence and Lord Capulet led to the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet because they prioritized their personal desires and societal expectations over the well-being and happiness of the young couple. The play revolves around the love story of two young lovers from rival families who struggle to overcome the barriers of their society and families' expectations. However, their love story is cut short by their untimely deaths, which were caused by the moral decisions and reasoning of some of the play's main characters. This essay will explore the role of Friar Lawrence and Lord Capulet in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet by examining their moral decisions and reasoning.
People take responsibility for the things that they have done and the reasons for taking responsibilities are varied, but sometimes they are critical. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is written by William Shakespeare, and one of the characters is most responsible for the deaths of star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Benvolio, the nephew of Montague, should take the responsibility for the unfortunate couple’s death, although he is the most veritable person throughout the play. In the beginning of the play, Romeo is deeply in love with Rosaline, the niece of Capulet, but Benvolio assumes that his love for her is infatuation because she does not cherish him back albeit Romeo wants to get recognition from her by showing his feeling and expressing his dismay.
Pardoned or Punished? “And where the offence is, let the great axe fall.” A quote by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet is a very heartwarming love story that ends tragically.
In the play, Romeo and Juliet By, Shakespeare, the characters Romeo and Juliet fall in love with each other and get married behind everyone's back, this and multiple other choices lead to their death. Due to all that happened it is hard to pin all the blame on one person as everyone had a distinguishable role in their deaths and no one person can be blamed. but In the article, who can be Blamed for R&J, Max Radlicz gives an analysis of who is to blame for the results of Romeo and Juliet through his claim that Tybalt is one of the people responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. In his article, Max Radlicz claims that Tybalt is one of the main people to blame for the results of Romeo and Juliet. He supports his reasoning with the sentence
In the Elizabethan era crime and punishment was one of the most important things to keep the order in society. Crime and punishment in the Elizabethan era has much to do with Shakespeare’s famous play Romeo and Juliet. The banishment of Romeo after he killed Tybalt in the streets of Verona should have led to Romeo 's execution but got away with a lesser penalty. Later in the play, Romeo says that he would have rather been killed than to be away from Juliet, which shows that the crime and punishment worked well by giving him the worst possible, while still humane punishment.
“Some shall be Pardon’d, and some punished” (Page 105, Line 320) In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet many of the characters bear responsibility for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Which leads all to be punished in the sense of grieving over the loss of loved ones lives. However, who is really responsible for the lover's choices? The choices that Romeo and Juliet made were impulsive and irresponsible but as teenagers were they fully responsible for their deaths with all the guidance they had from Friar Laurence, the Nurse, or even from their families?
Romeo and Juliet What are the main factors that caused their death? Romeo and Juliet’s death could have been caused by a great many factors but due to the fact that a few of the decisions chosen in the story were heavily influenced by either one or many other decisions acted upon by the relatives or friends of the two main characters in the story, Romeo and Juliet. Fate is not included because this is based off as if it was a real life scenario (which fate doesn’t affect since it has no proof of existence). The primary factor for their death is Romeo’s stupidity that got him banished from the city for killing Tybalt in the first place, however much deserved his death was.
In every crime, there is at least one criminal that is proven guilty and punished. In every story, there is at least one antagonist that is stopped and taught to be a better person or killed for their hostile behavior. But this is no ordinary crime, and it most certainly is no ordinary story. What is a crime? A crime is described as “an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law.”
