Philosopher Rousseau once said, “ Love is strong to overcome hatred, transform prejudice, and shatter the will to live…such is the power of love”. The books we have read this year all have something similar; they all connect to love. Each choice of the characters in the book are determined by love. Romeo and Juliet being an obvious one but also The Miracle Worker and To Kill a Mockingbird. In each book characters grow because of love while others, die because of love.

To start, Romeo and Juliet is a classic well known love story to all. The “power of love” is very exposed in this story. When Romeo and Juliet planned to runaway and start a life together is a good example. Both were willing to leave their families and almost everything to be together. They did that because they loved each other and love is powerful. Another obvious example is how both died because of love. There is a part in Rousseau’s quote that well fits this which is “(Love) shatter the will to live” This best matches this example because Romeo and Juliet were willing to die for each other. The Kellers had pity for Helen so they spoiled her and never disciplined her. This leading to Helen being a troublemaker and hard to understand.
