How Relatable Is Young Love Today’s Society?

Love at first sight… a very mysterious thing, is it legend or plain truth? Is it possible to experience love at first night when you're so young? According to Romeo and Juliet young love is very possible, compared to today it may not be realistic but at the same time it can be quite similar like our relationships today. So how is young love compared to nowadays relationships, how is it the same or how is it different? Although Romeo and Juliet have a relationship that could relate to today, ultimately it is not the same as we are today and I will prove it to you with the following statements; At the time of this play your partner was typically chosen for you by your parents

Compared to today parents rarely have a choice in who we date and/or marry, other than being able to give a blessing to marriage but that doesn't usually stop people if they really want to marry or even elope. Juliet's parents told her that she will be marrying Paris and she has no say in it, she will be happy and accept it no matter what. Her mom starts to tell her what is going to happen in act 3 scene 5 starting at about line 90, Lady Capulet “Marry, my child, early next thursday morn, The gallant, young, and noble gentleman, The County Paris, at Saint Peter’s Church, Shall happily make thee there a joyful bride.” As you can tell Juliet's parents clearly wanted her to marry Paris and not Romeo, since they hated Romeo and didn't want them to marry, but Paris along with his family were rich and had a connection with the other family. When you look to today's society and our relationships, you see people usually are able to choose who they love and spend their lives with, which means they most likely actually love their significant other. Our parents don't get to choose who we are with, because it just isn't right we need to be able to express ourselves with the people we love, having our parents choose who we wed just ruins the fun of
