The story of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is an amazing story which includes soliloquies about love, characters having a character motive, and suspense that will make you want to read the next line. In class we read the play, watched the play, talked about it, and watched the movie Grease to relate to the play. Learning about the story of Romeo and Juliet all happened in the course of about four months. The movie Grease is about a bad boy who falls in love with a good girl but has many obstacles in the way just like Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet Friar Laurence had the best character motive when he agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet so that their families wouldn’t have a feud anymore. His agreement was very beneficial towards the couple because then Juliet wouldn’t have to marry Paris. The feud that was happening between Romeo and Juliet’s families was stopping the couple from continuing their relationship so Romeo asked Friar Laurence for his assistance in the marriage without saying a word. Friar Laurence response was “O, she knew well Thy love did read by rote, that could not spell. But come, young waverer, come go with me. At the end after Romeo and Juliet were married, Romeo was forbidden to come back to town because he killed Tybalt (Juliet’s cousin). When Juliet found she wanted a way to go with him without telling her parents that she was leaving. Juliet went to Friar Laurence to tell him that she wanted to be with Romeo. He agreed by giving her a potion that made her heart rate slow to where she looked like she was dead but was initially sleeping. At this point of the story, the suspense was building. After Juliet drinks the potion she slowly falls asleep and is pronounced “dead” by her parents in which they put her in the Capulet tomb. The same day Romeo is told that she is dead, and rushes to see her. He finally gets to the tomb and sees Juliet “dead” he drinks the poison and dies. Juliet awakes seconds after, seeing him dead, and is so inflicted that she decides to stab herself. This is the part where the suspense is over and it is finally winding down to an end. This is a quote ,said by Juliet, at the end of book that proclaims that they both die in the end. “ What’s here? A cup, closed in my true love’s hand? Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end.
