Characterization:.. I consider Juliet to be an impulsive person because of her words and actions. For example, she was impulsive when she met Romeo in the chapel to marry each other. “But my true love is grown to such excess I cannot sum up half my wealth,” (Shakespeare, page 134). She says her love has grown so much for a man she met two days ago, and had less than a handful of conversations with each other. Juliet was impulsive when she took the potion from Friar Laurence. “Give me, give me!” (Shakespeare, page 216). “Yea, the noise is coming in”? Then I’ll be brief. O happy dagger, This is thy sheath. Juliet’s parents, Lady and Lord Capulet, always think of Juliet. They assume Juliet is content with her parents making all of the big decisions. For example, in Act 1, scene 3, “Well, think of marriage now”. Graze where you will, you shall not house with me,” (Shakespeare, page 202). This evidence shows how without Juliet’s obedience, she is not welcome. One example of a symbol for this story is daggers. For example, “And with this knife I’ll help you with it. God joined my heart and Romeo’s, Thou our hands And ere this hand, by thee to Romeo’s sealed, shall be the the label to another deed, Or my true heart with treacherous revolt Turn to another, this shall slay them both. Therefore out of thy long-experienced time, give me present counsel, or, behold ‘Twixt my extremes and me this bloody knife,” (Shakespeare, page 212). This evidence shows Juliet about to stab herself with a knife/dagger because she can’t be with Romeo. This proves that the dagger not only brings death, but also an escape from the torment of not being happy with the person your love(r). The dagger symbolizes freedom. This is how a dagger can be a symbol for Romeo and
