Some people fight for honor, and some fight for revenge, or to avenge their friends or loved ones. Some fight with words and wisdom, while others choses to use physical force, even by taking the opponent’s life to fulfill their vengeance. Romeo does nothing to fight back so Mercutio steps up and fight Tybalt but loses his life in doing so. After Mercutio dies Romeo is full of anger and craves vengeance, he immediately chases after Tybalt and kills him. Romeo starts off not wanting to fight but after the death of Mercutio he is conflicted with so many different emotions and he only listens to one, anger. Mercutio lost his life defending Romeo who refused to fight Tybalt, but his death made Romeo do the exact thing he lost his life for.
Character Defense: Romeo We perceive that Romeo is innocent due to his apparent love for Tybalt and his clear disesteem to the brawl unfolding. He wanted to advent the violence thrust upon him by his love (Tybalt). He cared too much to fight him but when a good life-long friend, Mercutio, is murdered in front of his very eyes he is shaken to the core. These are the type of questions you would have to ask yourself if you were in Romeo and Juliet's shoes. Mainly I believe that the biggest reason Romeo and Juliet did not live was because of themselves. When they knew that they shouldn't be together they should have just moved on and live out there lives instead of getting all dramatic and going to the lengths of killing themselves.
