Romeo and Juliet is a play written by the famous William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet fall in love, however their families have a long term fight so they are enemies. Romeo and Juliet have to find a safe way to be with each other and for their families to stop fighting. In Romeo and Juliet your parents should not have a final say in whom you date. Lady Capulet tells Juliet after Juliet says she doesn't want to marry Paris “Well think of marriage now. Younger than you, Here in Verona ladies of esteem, Are made mothers already” (Shakespeare 1.3.73-75). Lady Capulet is worried that Juliet is going to become to old so she thinks if she gets Juliet married to Paris than Juliet will get married at a reasonable age. Furthermore Lady Capulet thinks Juliet’s match with Paris is good because Paris is a good guy and she wants the best for her daughter. Friar tells Capulet and Lady Capulet this when they believe Juliet is dead (Friar knows she is alive) “Had part in this fair maid! Now heaven hath all, And all the better is it for the maid” (Shakespeare 4.5.70-73). Friar shows that if her parents made her marry Paris then she would not be as happy unless she picked her own husband. Even Friar Laurence knew that if Juliet married her parents choice of her husband to be Paris that she would have been miserably wed with Paris. After Juliet and Romeo met in the Capulet's party “And she as much in love, her means much less, To meet her new beloved anywhere” (Shakespeare 2.Prologue.11-12). Her parents would never allow Romeo to be Juliet's husband because he is their enemy so she would not be happy. Romeo and Juliet both love each other on the other hand Juliet is supposed to marry Paris and her parents are strict. These reasons support my argument
