They both loved her, but her heart led to only one of them. The play Romeo and Juliet characterizes two suitors who want to marry the same a young girl, Juliet Capulet. One of the suitors is Romeo and the other is named Paris. These two men are portrayed as being alike in many ways, but their differences appear to be greater. Their personalities, attitudes, and feelings for Juliet cause them to act very differently, although both men’s actions cause them to have the same tragic fate. Romeo and Paris are alike because they are both handsome, respectful noblemen, who come from wealthy families. Romeo is inexperienced with women because he is only 16. At the beginning of the play, he is already in love with a girl named Rosaline, who does not love him back. His friend Benvolio tries to convince Romeo to forget Rosaline and look for other women. Romeo shows how immature and passionate he is when he quickly falls in love with Juliet at first sight, and forgets about Rosaline. Paris, on the other hand, is older than Romeo. He is a mature, 25- year- old businessman. Paris is thoughtful in choosing Juliet for his bride and he never changes his mind. He seeks permission from her father and goes about the process in the proper way. In contrast, Romeo goes about marrying Juliet by breaking all the rules. Paris is the best suitor for Juliet, I according to her parents. They feel that he is established and will support Juliet. They would never consider Romeo as a husband for their daughter, because he is young and has no real job. Romeo is also a Montague, from a family who is their sworn enemy. Romeo is a more passionate, and impulsive person, than Paris is. He makes decisions based on emotion, while Paris doesn’t express much emotion at all. Romeo meets Juliet at her bedroom window and speaks to her in poetry. He treats Juliet as his equal in the relationship. Paris seems to consider Juliet more like a possession, and
