I’ve received your questions asking who or what influenced me in writing my very famous play, The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. My main influence came from the author of, The Tragicall history of Romeus and Juliet Arthur Brooke. Arthur’s poem was published in the year 1562, approximately 35 years before my play was published.
