Likewise, after Mercutio and Tybalt's death, he is banished to let the people repent the loss of the Prince. Both the Montagues and Capulets are punished as a result. The montagues can no longer see his own son, and the Capulets can not put Romeo to death for killing Tybalt. Secondly, after his banishment, he ruins his marriage with Juliet and stains his childhood joy. Furthermore, as a result of his foolishness and acting without thinking, Romeo commits suicide after not receiving Friar’s letter.
Romeo and Juliet deserves to still be taught in schools today because of the literary value within the play, and its immaculate portrayal of young love and old love. In Noah Berlatsky’s argument, It’s Not Childish, It’s About Childishness, he comments on elements of the script after reading it the second time, the first when he was in high school, “That is some searingly saucy banter, there. ‘Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer’ has to be one of the archest lines in all of literature. I’m with Romeo. I’d fall in love with that,” (Berlatsky).
Romeo and Juliet Should ‘Romeo and Juliet’ be taught in school? My opinion on this question is yes, but some may say no. But let me tell you why I said no. I think schools should teach Romeo and Juliet because in the story it shows how people talked back then in English a certain way. And it can teach students more knowledge because the language they used back then was really hard. And that can make kids in High School work hard and learn more, and they can use this in future if needed.

It would have made everyone in Juliet's family very mad at Romeo and even less open to their marriage if they were to tell people about it. Also, Romeo had to be punished for the crime that he committed. He was banished from the city of Verona, which took him away from his new wife, Juliet.

Should Shakespeare be taught in 9th grade? “The true purpose of education is to make minds, not careers”- William Shakespeare, this quote is by Shakespeare himself it is saying that we might not always use what we are taught in school in the career that we aspire for, we learn these things to develop our mind so we can understand the world in different perspectives. However, because Romeo killed Tybalt, Romeo’s punishment is to be banished from Verona. Romeo creates more complications with his relationship with Juliet, especially right after they got married, in result of slaying Tybalt. There is no possible way for them to contact each other now. This leaves Juliet heartbroken, and risking everything to be with him once again. Being too vindictive and hasty to seek revenge did not allow Romeo to think of the repercussions that would affect his relationship with his
The Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet In William Shakespeare's Play; Romeo and Juliet, Juliet has been forced make dangerous decisions because all the people in her life has abandoned or failed her. Shakespeare is trying to convey that adults play a major role on how young people cope and solve situations when in need of guidance. When Juliet got the news that Tybalt was dead, Juliet sobs; “And Tybalt is dead and Romeo is banished.” (lll,ll,112).
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet The story of Romeo and Juliet was originally written by William Shakespeare sometime between 1591 and 1595 and then being published in 1597. Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy between two star crossed lovers whose deaths end the feud between their families. Although the death of Romeo and Juliet resulted in the end of the feud between the two families the death of Romeo and Juliet could have been avoided if it was not for Romeos flaws. Romeo is a very impulsive person.
After these events have happened, Romeo goes back to fight Tybalt, for names he was being called. However, Romeo is banished instead of killed for his fight with Tybalt and killing him. This puts the pressure of the marriage between Romeo and Juliet because Romeo is now banished from Verona for killing Juliet's cousin,
The tragedy of this story has already began from when Romeo fell in love with Juliet at the masquerade party because they want to get married, but their families won’t allow their marriage. The day after their secret wedding, fighting broke out between Mercutio, Romeo’s friend, and Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin. Romeo had tried to stop the fight between them because he is secretly Tybalt’s cousin in law, but they fight anyways and Tybalt cuts Mercutio. When Mercutio dies and Tybalt runs away, Romeo is enraged and murders Tybalt. As a result of his actions, the Prince banishes Romeo from Verona for as long as he lives.
Many high school students dread the thought of reading the “classics” because they feel the novels are “irrelevant” to their lives today. There are many different tools available to teachers today that they can use in their classroom to keep children engaged in the “classics.” One piece of literature many students hate reading is Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Effective teaching is a result of many factors, but to be a passionate teacher takes a more time and effort within the classroom. The use of technology is ever growing today and rather dismissing it, I would incorporate it into many of my lessons to keep the children engaged.
The play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare has been taught in school for many years now. Some say that we should continue to allow our teens to read this tragic love story, while many argue that this play should no longer be allowed in schools. The issues concerning this tragic love story are the inappropriate jokes, the unrealistic view of love, and the promotion of suicide. These issues will indeed prove why Romeo and Juliet is ill suited to be taught to freshmen. Ninth graders should no longer read Romeo and Juliet because it is has very inappropriate jokes that should not be associated with school.
