The cruel way of finding out information (e.g. breaking fingers (cf. chapter 1 16)) “imposes terror” (Spanakos 38) and people are deeply afraid of him, greeting him with the words: “[p]lease don’t kill anybody” (Moore and Gibbons chapter 1 15) after Rorschach enters a pub. After he is arrested and in prison, another inmate starts provoking him and after seconds of silence and no response, Rorschach grabs a pan with boiling fat and pours it into the face of the man and then says: “None of you understand. I’m not locked up in here with you. You’re locked up in here with me” (chapter 6 13) knowing exactly where his strengths lie, what he is capable of and how he makes people feel. Rorschach only sees good and evil and the “evil must be punished”
