Summary of Rough Waters Rough waters is a book written by S.L. Rottman. Rough Waters is a “Heart-Wrenching (from back cover and my opinion)” adventure story. Rough Waters was published in 1997 and takes place in Buena Vista, CO (AP). Rough waters is a book for adolescents ( from back cover). Rough Waters is not a bestseller and S.L. Rottman is the author of Hero.
A famous actor Christopher Reeve once said, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to preserve and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Being heroic does not always mean you’re special or well known. Since a hero shows determination, it drives them to help others and go beyond what’s expected of them. Heroes are people who go beyond expectations.
In the article "This apple could have been saved" by Kristen Lewis, (and reporter Adee Braun) the author explains some ways food gets wasted every year in America. One way food gets wasted is because when the food in a store doesn 't look perfect for some people, they won 't buy it. This results in the food being thrown away by the store. This is important because it shows that it 's our faults for being too picky with our choices, and now we have to live with the consequences. One way to reduce the food waste that we produce would be to eat the uglier produce.
The following passage from the Last Child in the Woods delivers a well thought out explanation for for the irrelevance for “true nature” and how it is indeed not even looked at nowadays. Through the use of logos, pathos, and parallelism Richard Louv develops a meaningful argument that gives insight to the deterioration between people and nature. Throughout the passage Louv describes the dying relationship of people and nature through a mocking tone to give make it clear that he is against this new revelation. Logically Louv delivers a sound argument as to why this movement is not good, but it’s also detrimental to the mind of the young. Like Louv has stated, “Americans say they want their children to watch less TV,” but as a whole we “continue to expand the opportunities” to do so and this logic is clearly hypocritical.
The natural world is a magnificent place full of many wonders. In fact, the natural world includes all living things as well as oceans and the lands. The general public doesn’t usually pay attention to nature that often, though when people think about it, the natural world affects humans in many ways. The stories “Called Out,” “In Defense of Everglades Pythons,” and “The Seventh Man” all have examples showing how something specific can have a major effect on those around it. You see, the world can affect humans in a good way like something beautiful or a bad way like something that makes humankind do something to stop it.

The word “Hero” has many different labels. In “ Heroes Versus Sociopaths” Andrea Kuszewski explains what she thinks the word “hero” means to her. In the article she also talks about sociopaths and what they mean to her. Towards the end of her article she starts to compare and contrast heroes and sociopaths so you can have a better understanding. She quoted, “ They are people who possess extraordinary traits of altruism - selfless concern for the well-being of others - even at the expense of their own existence”, talking about heroes.

What Stops People from Being Heroes? If anyone can be a hero, then why isn't the world full of heroes? Who wouldn't want to be a hero? I don’t disagree with the theme, but truthfully I think that although everyone has the potential to be a hero, heroes are a rare and unique minority.
