We were then able to launch the police department patrol boat and respond back to the scene. As we were in the process of launching the patrol boat, I was advised via radio by Officer Barcelo that Jason had fallen into off of the boat into the water. Upon arrival back at the vessel the I observed Jason chest deep in the water clinging to the stern of the vessel. As the patrol boat was maneuvered closer I was able to pull Jason to the patrol boat with a boat hook and then pull him from the water onto the patrol boat.
John Krakauer’s account of the journey of Chris McCandless has inspired many other people to seek out the beauty of nature. Why would a story with such a tragic ending cause others to do exactly what in the end killed McCandless? Perhaps it’s because Krakauer depicts Chris as a hardworking honest young man, who throughout his journey uncovered many truths about life. Maybe it’s because Krakauer includes so many passages talking about the beauty and simplicity of nature. Possibly this inspiration is contributed to because Krakauer chalks the death of McCandless up to chance.
“Into the Wild” – Persuasive Essay What is your thoughts about Chris McCandless? Was he brave, or was he just another foolish person? The book “Into the Wild” written by Jon Krakauer was a book describing the life and death of an adventurer known as Chris McCandless. The answer to the question I asked earlier is simple. McCandless is neither wise nor foolish, for he has both qualities.
Jason was strong. I wasn’t sure how he got that way. Maybe because he had to handle everything by himself, but that wouldn’t make sense. He never learned how to be strong. He just was.
16. The thesis of the novel Into the Wild is Chris cutting off his ties to his ‘world’ as he had become disappointed with his place in society. This connects to the book Paper Towns, just like Chris, the main character Margo Spiegelman ran off into her own world, “she loved mysteries so much that she became one.” (Green, prologue 35) This quote relates to Chris McCandless and his own mysterious mind that no one will quite ever understand except himself.

Kaitlyn Larson, author of “Parole”, uses internal conflict and situational irony in her story to convey that a society often judged through appearances, can lead to false judgement. Throughout the story, Larson accentuates the descriptions of Noah’s appearance through Skylar’s thoughts as details which cause a misleading perception in the future. “The man was tall. He had perfect brown hair, big blue eyes and a very defined jaw line”, Skylar builds her judgement of who Noah is through the first impression. The imagery created is of a handsome man who could never hurt a fly.

There was no reason to transport these people by helicopter when ambulances were already on scene and addressing the few that were injured. The most sensible way to handle this situation was to just use the ambulances. “The injured were transported by ambulance to Danbury Hospital. What really drove Chris McCandless into the wild? I believe the top three of the countless reasons that drove McCandless into the wild was the emotional damage from his parents, rebellion of the youth & risk taking tendencies, and his hubris and detestation against authority and/or someone telling him what to do. Some may believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild because of his literary heroes Leo Tolstoy, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau , and Jack London but the real reason he left everything was because of those reasons. In this essay I will elaborate on why I believe those are the reasons that drove McCandless into the wild.
