A PESTEL analysis is a strategic tool that marketers utilize in order to analyze and oversee macro-environmental features which could possibly influence an organization. “The result of which is used to identify threats and weaknesses which is used in a SWOT analysis (Professional Academy, 2017). PESTEL: 1. P: Politically, Raleigh, North Carolina is Democratic (Andrew, 2014). 2. E: Economically, according to Forbes Lists (2017), Raleigh is ranked at the 3rd best place for a business startup. The city is home to a population of 438,000 people. Raleigh’s Gross Metro Product: 68.5 B., Median Household Income: $64,214, and Unemployment Rate: 4.2%. These numbers further prove that Raleigh’s economic situation is a favorable location for establishing …show more content…

S: Socially, Raleigh is a diverse city with a broad range of ethnic and racial groups, which have doubles due to the increase in migration and the low birth-rates of Americans. Also, with the city located in the heart of North Carolina, it is expected to nearly double in population and size by the year 2035. Also, fifty-six percent of the land’s usage is dedicated to low/medium density residential areas. Finally, unemployment and poverty rates have decreased by four and two percent, respectively, from 2010 to 2015 (Raleigh Demographics, 2017). 4. T: Technologically, Raleigh has been very successful. Forty-eight percent of the city’s residents have obtained at least a bachelor’s degree and have then entered employment in technological fields (Raleigh Demographics, 2017). 5. E: Environmentally, Raleigh has been certified as a 4-STAR community, meaning it has been labeled as an excellent and sustainable city. This rating system evaluated Raleigh’s “built environment; climate and energy; economy and jobs; education, arts and community; equity and empowerment; health and safety; and natural system” (Office of Sustainability, 2016). Moreover, this city and all of its political leaders in government, have made the environment and its safety a priority. A heavy recycling system is emphasized as well, throughout neighborhoods and communities. Lastly, the city encourages that inhabitants to take good care of the environment by giving Environmental Awards at the city’s annual environment
