Last summer I worked as a sales associate at a retail store this by far was one of the most challenging jobs I ever had. Before going into this job I always thought being a sales associate was an easy job. To my surprise it was not, being a sales associate at a retail clothing store requires more than learning how to handle a cash register. It requires you to have a lot of patience and enthusiasm.
Patience is key to succeeding in retail sales without it you would not be able to handle those difficult customers. I also had a difficult time adapting to my new job because I lacked appropriate communication skills. I have always been a shy person so I had a hard time when engaging with customer. This was one of those classes I was not really looking forward to. I will say that this class has become one of my favorite classes and it is definitely one I always look forward to. Aside from teaching the art of sales, this class has pushed me way out of my comfort zone. Which I am extremely grateful for because there are things I would have never done if it had not been for this class. For example, the Networking Assignment has taught me to be more confident. At first I really did not see the benefit of this assignment but now that I have finished I can see what great things it has brought me. This assignment has given me the opportunity to meet great people and see the great opportunities the sales industry has to offer.
All of these reasons have led me to apply for the UTD Sales Program. I believe that if I am accepted into this program I will be able to open a new window of opportunities. The Sales Program will help me expand my network and establish myself professionally. I also believe that this program will facilitate things for me when it comes to getting an internship. The opportunities with this program are endless which is why I do not see it as just program but rather as a lifetime asset and
