Sally Ride, a inspirational women who became known as the first American women to go to space, and the one who made an impact on women deserves a monument. During her life, going to space wasn't the only thing she was remembered for. Sally Ride graduated from Westlake High School, in 1978. While in school she had a passion for sports, she enjoyed playing volleyball, softball and especially tennis; in tennis she achieved national ranking as a junior. At this point Sally Ride had an option, to continue with her scholarship for tennis or leave to Stanford University. She choose to leave to Stanford, which there she got her degree in science and doctorate in physics. Ride held such a great legacy, as Teri Cosentino wrote in her academic journal “Sally Ride was an incredible human, one who cared, loved, dreamed, and sadly, left us too soon. Still, Sally Ride's legacy to the world continues to inspire young people, especially girls, to study math and science, work hard, keep trying until they get it right…” after reading “Sally Ride: America's First Woman in Space” by Lynn Sherr. Sally ride worked in inspiring her society, she cared for her loved ones and the ones who seen her as a great figure. Also stated in “Smithsonian Magazine” by K.C Cole “...Ride says, "you see all these boys who get C's in math and say, "I'm going to be an engineer!' And all these girls who get A's in math and say, 'I'm not good enough.” Ride gives off the atmosphere of love. She gives individuals a feeling she shows them that they are more than just someone. Charles Bolden a former NASA administrator (a man), states that "Sally Ride broke barriers with grace and professionalism – and literally changed the face of America's space program....The nation has lost one of its finest leaders, teachers and explorers.” (Granath Bob).
