This paper is going to be on the history of the colt revolver. This is an iconic western revolver. The revolver was a very big step towards the modernized handgun. The Colt was the start to a very large industry and company. It was also made by Sam Colt.

The Colt Revolver Company and revolver was made by Samuel Colt. The revolver was made in a town in connecticut to fire more rounds without reloading to improve strategical use in combat. When it was made not many people wanted to buy the revolvers, this almost caused Samuel’s small shop to close down. To sweeten the deal Samuel started to make belts to go along with his revolvers. The western front started a lust for expansion and guns, an opportunity for Samuel Colt. Colt saw this opportunity under the plans of James K. Polk. Captain Samuel H. The first design was very different yet not so different from the more known or famous models. The first design was supposed to be a revolving flintlock pistol. Though in movies it is more known to be in the old west the later models were owned by many people in the army as well as civilians. The beginning models how ever were more know to be only owned by officers but was on the union and confederate sides, not many soldiers had the privilege of owning a revolver. The models of the 1870s were known to be very improved and more owned by people than compared to the earlier models. These models were more famous than the earlier and were known more or less because of the Old west movies such as Clint Eastwood. But at the beginning of WWII the weapon stopped being produced entirely because many armies viewed the weapon as obsolete. The although the Colt m1911 started to be made.
