1. Two significant contributions that Samuel Johnson made to society would be: I. Johnson being an English author, made long lasting influences on English works throughout his life. Johnson made influences on works such as poetry. This book clearly demonstrates that during the 1700s, Johnson made copious contributions through his works such as: his own dictionary, his various essays and his apologue, which is titled, Prince of Abyssinia. II. Another contribution Johnson made contributions politically through his work known as The Gentleman’s Magazine. This piece of writing included many debates that took place in the House of Commons. Johnson was described to be attending debates and proceeding to be writing them from an unbiased perspective. If there would be one word to describe Johnson, it certainly would be: Outgoing. Johnson displayed this characteristic in many ways. Johnson displayed being outgoing when he attempted to go into a career of teaching. Unfortunately, Johnson was highly unsuccessful in his teaching career. His failure in this regard was mainly due to his behaviors. In addition, Johnson was unsuccessful due to the fact that Johnson did not hold a suitable degree. Although Johnson’s career was unsuccessful, his approach to the task is what made him outgoing. With no sturdy qualification, Johnson stood up to the challenge. Johnson was also outgoing in respect to the friendships he built over the course of his life. Johnson and Boswell became good friends and their friendship was so strong that Boswell was inspired to write about James and his life. Boswell was a character that was unapproachable as he had a rapid temper. He often would scare other individuals that were about. Thus, it is commendable that Johnson was able to keep such a strong bond with Boswell throughout his life. This displays Johnson’s outgoing
