Sarah Lois Vaughan, also know as “Sassy” or “The Divine One” was born in March 27, 1924 in Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A. She died in April 3, 1990 (aged 66) due to lung cancer. She was a very successful music artist from 1942–1990 who released over 20 albums. Her voice was one of the best in that time and she was also an extremely skilled pianist.
Sarah was married three times. First to George Treadwell, from 1946–1958, then to Clyde
Atkins, from 1958–1961 and lastly to Waymon Reed, from 1978–1981. She was unable to have children so she adopted a baby girl originally named Debra Lois in 1961. Debra was renamed Paris Vaughan and worked as an actress.What was Sarah Vaughan well known for?

Her first step to becoming a professional singer was at a talent contest held at Harlem's
