Sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease that can affect the many organs in the human body. Granulomas starts to develop due to sarcoidosis, which is made up of little tumors. This disease is more likely to occur in African Americans than any other race out there. Also more commonly found in more African American women rather than men. This disease can cause great pain to the ones who have it, though it is not life threatening. Even though there is a high relevance of this disease, there has yet to be a cure for it. Researchers have come up with many ways of treating the disease. These treatments, unfortunately, comes with a great amount of side effects that can be unbearable to some patients.

Often the medicines that they are on can knock down their immune system and allow the body to get many infections that can be life threatening. When your immune system is to low, then your body is not able to fight off the many viruses/infections that one come in contact with. Living with sarcoidosis is not easy, especially when you are prescribed too many other medications. Some patients who are not on prescribed medicine still needs to receive ongoing care in case of new symptoms, or if you’re current condition began to worsen. A patient may have to have routine checkup for eye exams and a lung function tests to make sure the disease isn’t damaging your organs.
