Survival triad is another are for assessment of family functioning. By assessing the relationships with all the individuals within the triad such as the father, mother, and child the therapist search for the quality of the family relationship. It is through the emotional bond between parent and child which established the connection. Through the survival triad assessment, the therapist identified the parent’s different connection level with the child. In the movie, the psychiatrist met Antowne Fisher in his office and had conceptualized him realizing Antowne Fisher communication stance of superreasonable in his individual assessment of Mr. Fisher. In the movie Antowne Fisher body language presented a confrontational or hostile appearance towards coming to the psychiatrist. The psychiatrist recognized this behavior with his view and conceptualizing of Mr. Antowne fisher.
In viewing and conceptualizing Antowne Fisher case using the Satir growth model, in the initial phase of meeting Antowne Fisher I would have understood by his behavior and body language that he did not want to be come to counseling. I would be respectful and cordial Mr. Fisher regardless of negative interactional stance or sequence that may be presenting.
