Writer Sherman Alexie has a knack of intertwining his own problematic biographical experience with his unique stories and no more than “The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven” demonstrates that. Alexie laced a story about an Indian man living in Spokane who reflects back on his struggles in life from a previous relationship, alcoholism, racism and even the isolation he’s dealt with by living off the reservation. Alexie has the ability to use symbolism throughout his tale by associating the title’s infamy of two different ethnic characters and interlinking it with the narrator experience between trying to fit into a more society apart from his own cultural background. However, within the words themselves, Alexie has created themes that surround despair around his character however he illuminates on resilience and alcoholism throughout this tale.
In XXXX, Bram Stoker wrote Dracula, the story of a monstrous Transylvanian count who terrorized local villages and fed on the peasants who lived in them. The book is today widely recognized as a historically significant literary work, and its importance has caused many scholars to debate whether Bram Stoker’s main character Dracula was actually inspired by real historical figures. Many scholars believe that Vlad the 3rd or Vlad the Impaler was the direct inspiration for Count Dracula. Vlad the 3rd was the son of King Vlad the 2nd Dracul and as Prince, was the heir to the Wallachian throne. He was born during the year of 1431 and died during a battle in December 1476.

Eurystheus told Hercules of a strange land inhabited by those who did not breath our air, but instead breathed the water of Poseidon's oceans. Some may argue that Go Set a Watchman should be considered a classic since it’s a sequel to How Too Kill a Mocking Bird, but the morals that are reflected in How Too Kill a Mocking Bird is destroyed in Go Set A Watchman. “Mocking Bird” sets an example for kids to follow as Atticus promoting “all men are created equal”. “Watchman” is written as the total opposite and enhances on the idea of Atticus being racist and Jean Louise complaining about her life. These two books are nowhere near being worthy of comparison, one earned the title of becoming a classic, while the other is hoping one day to have been grandfathered in.

Respectively one wrote rules to defend the oppressed, and the other posted ideas that lead the creation of a good life for man. It is clear that both texts assume the natural existence of injustice in society. Therefore, in order to promote the welfare of the people, there must be a higher being to guide them. Furthermore, they both appeal to authority in opposite ways: Hammurabi as the “Perfect King” reminds the reader that he is in complete power to enforce each of the laws in his code. On the other hand Plato takes a passive and serene approach, arguing that philosophers shall be kings because of their sound understanding of ethics and morality.

They both stood in the way of a problem and tried to solve it. For example David stood up to Goliath and Casey stood up to the other team. Another similarity is that they both had problems.
Wealth, smartphones, and fame are just a few of the many objectives that people glorify in today’s day. However, Achilles and Hector from the Iliad glorify: power, strength, and of course bravery. Like Achilles and his bravery, people today jump to the word ‘wealth’. Our entire lives are based off of how much we make and what we do for a living. We glorify the aspect of making more than another individual, as does Achilles glorifying how much braver he can be than Hector.
