The Lion King: A Leadership Analysis While watching Disney’s renowned film, The Lion King, it is hard to miss the connections made between the theories and concepts learned in our leadership class and the plot of the movie. In the Lion King, Simba is the prince of “everything that the light touches”. As he grows older, he must learn the ways of his homeland from his father, the King, Mufasa, and how the next King of the Jungle should act. Unfortunately, his evil Uncle Scar wants to take over the throne and kills Mufasa while claiming that Simba was the murderer, all the while Simba thinking that he actually is too. We saw this right away when he pushed Mufasa to his death off a cliff. Incompetence means that he doesn’t have the capacity of understanding of how to lead. This was evident when the lion pride fell and the kingdom descended into ruins under his leadership. Being rigid meant that he was unable to concede to others opinions because he felt that his way was the best way. Lastly, Scar was intemperate because he lacked self-control and his dedicated followers, the Hyenas, were unable to intervene to take over because they lacked the ability to cooperate and save Pride
