They do not have much money and the parents Rose Mary and Rex Walls are very irresponsible. Rose Mary and Rex Walls are the parents of Jeannette , Lori, Brian, and Maureen. The siblings Jeanette, Lori, and Brian hold the family together, but if they did not their family would split apart.
After few hours reading, “The Sanctuary of School” was written by Lynda Barry, grew up in an interracial neighborhood in Seattle, Washington State. Then, I think this article was interesting to read. I love the way how she told us her past experience by using her own voice to lead us step by step get into her story, then she also shares us about her feeling and how it impacted to her future life. Plus, at the end, she argues that the government should not be cutting the school programs and art related activities. Those programs definitely do help the students and the parents as well.
The Purpose In Anna Quindlen’s essay “School’s Out for the Summer”, Anna’s main purpose for writing this essay was to hit points and discuss a huge problem that kids all of this country are facing throughout the summer days. She talks about how children eat at the beginning and middle of a school day but when the summer comes around that’s not always the case and many kids go through the day hungry and feeling as if they’re starving because they were use to being feed at school everyday. “Families are struggling in a way they haven’t done for a long time”.

Madeleine Thien’s “Simple Recipes” is not mainly about the father cooking food and his treatment towards his son, instead, the author uses food to symbolize the struggles her immigrated family experienced in Canada. While it is possible to only look at the narratives that food symbolizes, the idea is fully expressed when the father is compared with the food. The theme of food and the recipes are able to convey the overall troubles the narrator’s family encountered. Although, food is usually a fulfilling necessity in life, however, Thien uses food to illustrate the struggle, tensions, and downfall of the family. Yet, each food does represent different themes, but the food, fish, is the most intriguing because of the different environment

Each participant will receive a backpack filled with nonperishable items to assist with food-insecurity issues that may arise over the weekend and on school holidays. The results of hunger on children in America are not having the right nutrition, can have serious implication for a child’s physical and mental health. Also food insecurity is harmful to all people, but it is particularly devastating to children.

According to the resources, nearly 84 % of client households with children report purchase the cheapest food available knowing that it wasn’t the healthiest option just as an effort to provide enough food for their family. On top of that, Among Feeding America, a federal program, client households with children, nearly 9 in 10 households are food insecure (“Child Hunger”).
