Scrooge In Nephew's 'A Christmas Carol'

During “A Christmas Carol”, Scrooge's Nephew , Fred, has always had a positive personality throughout the book. In the beginning of the story, Fred invites his Uncle Scrooge to Christmas dinner. Although he was declined harshly he still keeps his happy demeanor. “But I have made the trial in homage to Christmas and I’ll keep my humour to the last.’ ‘Merry Christmas Uncle!’ ‘Good Afternoon.’ said Scrooge. ‘And a Happy New Year (16) !” The quote proves that even though Scrooge was rude and declined him; Fred was willing to be nice to Scrooge and keep a smile on his face. In Comparison to this, Cindy Lou Who, is an innocent little girl that wants nothing more than to have everyone happy during Christmas. This shows that even though Scrooge had to be scared to change, he does realise that his action do interpret what happens in the future. This is greatly similar to the Grinch because at the end of the movie it display the grinch giving back all the presents that he had once stole and the police going in to arrest him. The Grinch holds his hands out know that what he had done was wrong, but instead of the police arresting him he forgives him and lets him go free. After they all celebrate Christmas with presents, but most importantly family. This is very similar to the Christmas Carol because after Scrooge returns to his bedroom he turns away from his past self and enjoys Christmas with his family. Overall these both fantastic stories have changed lives for years and till this day we use the theme of the Christmas carol in a lot of books.
