Sedaris had believed his childhood was so boring in comparison to his partner Hugh’s childhood. Sedaris compares his childhood to Hugh’s childhood a lot until he started to have feelings of resentment towards him. Sedaris says, “We had a collie and a house cat… They had a monkey and two horses named Charlie Brown and Satan… I threw stones at stop sighs… Hugh threw stones at crocodiles” (Paragraph 8).
Jimmy states that the gay community are “assimilationists, the same bunch of folks telling your great-grandparents to get a job and cut their hair and don’t talk Indian (155).” In conclusion the author uses his character’s as a way to open the eyes of his readers. As previously stated, having a different sexuality than the one expected of you, doesn’t change who you are as a person. Yes it might change how people see, or treat you, but it should never cause you to hate you uniqueness.

David Sedaris’ short story “Us & Them” is a high comedy that uses irony and wordplay to convey the idea that just because someone isn’t exactly like you doesn’t mean you can be rude to them. In Sedaris writing a young boy in that family had a curiosity about the daily life of his neighbors known as the Tomkeys, as they were known for being strange from a normal family. The Tomkeys family was known to be different as simply as they did not believe in television. The young boy found amusing ,always spying on the tomkeys daily life , as it was like a television show for him .

Repressed Homosexuality in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof In the play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, American play writer and author, Tennessee Williams, creates a piece that brings attention to a very dysfunctional, Southern family due to dishonesty, greed and concealed emotions. This story takes place around the 1950s and is centered on a broken, alcohol-loving man named Brick, his vivacious wife named Maggie, and their extremely… unusual family, but this isn’t the typical 1950s type of play. Most of the story and its conflict centers around one main topic: repressed homosexuality. This play was eventually cut down, altered and turned in to a film created by director, Richard Brooks.

These issues have caused many conflicts among societies and people in general. Sexuality revolves around a person’s orientation or preference. After reading this excerpt from the book, i can tell that the way that Sedaris views the Tomkeys is one filled with interest. At the beginning, Sedaris wonders about them and what they do instead of watching the television. As he watches the TV in his free time, he can’t even fathom what a family would do instead of that. Sedaris is so curious and intrigued by them that he is driven to watch them through their window to try and figure out what they do instead of watching the television. When at school, Sedaris often finds himself trying to forget all of what he knows of pop culture, and tries to see the world through the Tomkeys’ eyes, but it’s all so ingrained in his brain, that he just can’t do it.

Homosexuality Homosexuality, liking the same sex, has existed throughout human history. In today’s society heterosexuality, liking the opposite sex, is considered the “norm”. On the other hand, homosexuality is considered deviant or unnatural. So why do some believe that homosexuality is deviant? Who decides what is considered deviant?

Sex becomes an object to be oppress because it is unproductive in a capitalism society. The bourgeoisie not allow the workers use energy on sex, since workers’ energy is for production.
Sexuality is one of those feelings that you are born with. Different cultures and religions have their own definition of sexuality. It's not something that you choose, it's a natural physically, emotional, and sexual attraction to male, female, or even both. For centuries it is believe by some cultures that if you weren't heterosexual then you have a mental disease and considered abnormal.
