Selena Quintanilla’s greatest contribution were improving the Latin music industry by creating unique Tejano beats and bringing joy to the Latino community with her songs. Selena Quintanilla first started her career at a young age in her father's band “Los Dinos”. Los Dinos performed in a variety of events like weddings and parties. Los Dinos became known around the city , Selena Quintanilla's father dropped Selena out of school to continue to perform with the band.

She did not always stick to her Mexican culture and Mexican music though. This is the story and background of Selena Quintanilla-Perez.
By June 11, 1986, Selena y Los Dinos released the group’s third album, and their fame began to increase. 1986-1988 Selena won the Tejano Music Awards prize for female vocalist of the year for the first time and she captured the honor every year. In concert, Selena’s sexy bustiers and taunting and her pouty smiles earned her the nickname “the Tex-Mex Madonna.” Mid-1991 Selena and Chris Perez, who had recently began playing guitar, they admitted they had romantic feelings for each other, and their relationship began. April 2, 1992 they got married.

After one time of singing to her father, a band was created and she was put into the singing world. Since that day, many journeys occurred. She has performed in many places like Mexico and Texas. She even got married and won a Grammy.
She made six albums between 1987 and 1994. She won a Grammy award for her album, Selena Live, in 1993. Her album, Ven Conmigo, was the first Tejano record to achieve gold status. It sold more than 500,000 copies. At the Tejano Music Awards, she obtained the award for “Best Female Vocalist of the Year and “Performer of the Year”.

The group started playing gigs a weddings and parties, also playing at the family restaurant before it has gone bankrupt.
