In order to expand my knowledge in the psychological status among patient with chronic diseases in general clinical settings, I chose advanced psychiatric nursing courses during graduate study. Alongside with my experience in medical nursing, psychiatric nursing enhanced my capacity to manage patients from psychological, social, and physical aspects.

During my previous experience I have had experience with chronic diseases. This has stimulated me to think about ways in which health apps could be used for chronic disease management. One idea that particularly fascinates me is self management apps for cancer survivors, and I think those kinds of apps could help people to lead a more active life and develop their own methods of coping with difficulties …show more content…

At the same time, self-management requires participants ' self-monitoring to follow daily decisions to promote physical and psychological functions (Z29).
Self management strategies are based on empowering individual to actively handle their health condition (Z10). In particular, Bandura’s social cognitive theory is an example of theory that Self management program is based on, where the individual is induced to enhance self efficacy for sustained behavioral change (Z14).

Self-management program are multifaceted approach that is designed to enhance patients ' self-efficacy for self-management skills (Z13). Self-efficacy, the extent of an individual 's confidence in his capacity to precede a course of action, has been demonstrated to be associated with adaptation to cancer (X20). By the same token, self-efficacy is positively associated with HRQOL among cancer survivors (X20).

Actually, chronic disease self-management program showed positive outcomes in managing different chronic diseases (Z11). Especially, promoting self-management is essential to enhance overall functioning of cancer patients at all stages of survivorship
