The sexist language supports inequality and sexism and may block people from following their dreams. For example If engineers are always spoken of as male, any women who dream to be an engineer will feel that she can not since all engineers are male. The sexist language also offends women once they realize they have been left out.
People may recognize the problems with sexist language, but writing or talking in a non-sexist way appears to be very awkward, however, finding solutions is not always easy. Often the simplest way to solve the problem is to recast the whole sentence. In other words, find a totally different way to voice your idea. When you are speaking of a single hypothetical individual, use person rather than man.
Use genderless titles, such as police officer rather than a policeman, firefighter rather than a fireman, and camera operator rather than the cameraman.
Make the sentences in the plural to avoid gendered pronouns and possessive adjectives. This will create better and more grammatically correct prose than using a plural pronoun with a singular subject. (Each student makes up his own schedule). Change it to. (Each student makes up their own schedule).
When it is not possible to recast sentences in the plural, use he or she or his or her to be inclusive. (The winning contestant must claim his or her prize by Friday.)

In general, avoid using different words for men and women who perform the same
Job, and avoid using a masculine noun to encompass both genders. Instead, use a non-gender specific title.
