I believe taxes affects government economic policy today by increasing or decreasing the amount of money the government makes. The purpose of taxes is to raise revenue to fund the government. Money provided by taxation has been used by states and their functional equivalents throughout history to carry out many functions. Some of these include expenditures on economic infrastructure, military, scientific research, culture and the arts, public works, distribution, data collection and dissemination, public insurance, and the operation of government itself. The different reforms I would like to see are the lowering the taxes on basic goods and increasing it on luxury items.
However, acid throwing is only one method in a number of domestic violence cases, and women across the world are continuously held victim to mentally and emotionally scarring acts of violence. For example, violence against women in America is a sensitive topic that was addressed during the 1993 United Nations General Assembly, the birthplace of the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women, but studies show that every one in three women is still exposed to physical or sexual assault (“Facts”). The World Health Organization offers a list of risk factors that influence violence against women. This list includes, but is not limited to, a history of violence in the family, childhood maltreatment, infidelity, mental illness, strong sense of sexaul entitlement, and weak legal sanctions (“Violence”). It is quite popular to witness victim blaming used as an excuse for sexual assault, whether it be the clothing that the victim was wearing at the time or how much alcohol was consumed.
Sexual violence can affect anyone. There is no end all be all strategy to avoid any and all sexual violence. However, studies have shown that some people are more likely to be affected by sexual violence than others. Typically, the people most likely to be at risk of sexual violence are people who are disenfranchised, in prison where a whole different cultural dynamic exists and people who can’t care for themselves. Just a few of these groups are Native American women, male prisoners, and children.
Furthermore, when acts of violence are acknowledged, they are seen as isolated events instead of being part of the epidemic of violence against women that they are. In this paper, the perils of the normalization of violence against women that continues to happen will be examined in comparison to the normalization of
To better understand what factors influence women to participate in violent
In society and college campuses, sexual assault occurs quite frequently. According to an estimation one third of women experience a forced sexual experience at least once in their life and most of the time it occurs in colleges. Men have also been reported to be victim of sexual assaults mostly by other men. Most of the time the sexual assault is planned and perpetrated by a third person, who is known to the victim of incident. Drug and alcohol use play role in this issue and contribute to the problem as most of the time the victim and perpetrators are under the effect of alcohol or any other drug during the incident.
Through the issues of sexual assault on college campuses, I think that we should change the way we respond to prevent sexual abuse in colleges. All parents that have their kids going to the colleges were worrying about that issue, so the way we respond to this problem will help a lot for the victims and eases the problem of sexual abuse in colleges. The first thing we need to do is propaganda and sexual assault prevention to students. In the college campuses, the school needs to organize classes on sexual assault issues. These classes will provide knowledge on how to recognize and prevent sexual abuse.
Sexual Assault on College Campuses Sexual assault defined by The Oxford Dictionary is “The action or an act of forcing an unconsenting person to engage in sexual activity; a rape; (Law) a crime involving forced sexual contact, variously defined as inclusive or exclusive of rape”. The earliest use of this term can be traced back to the nineteenth century from a gentleman named Edward Coxx Mann. This is not a recently coined term however, there are blurred lines and grey areas. Sexual assault is a rising epidemic in youth across America that is being ignored by predators and lawmakers, thus making this issue harder to target.
Violent crimes committed by women as to gender include murder, terrorism, gang participation and domestic violence. The author emphasized that other crime associated with women, is domestic terrorism. They show that in recent studies, female terrorists now display extreme viciousness and cruelty. It is noted that because some women struggle to meet their economic needs, their participation in terrorism has increased In my view and as to the issue of gender in terrorism, this is a rare predictor of criminal behavior that has been associated with women knowing the fact that women are home makers and not associated with violence.
Universally, domestic violence is referred to abusive behavior that is used by the intimate partner to control or power over the other intimate power. This can be in the forms of psychological, sexual, economic or emotional threats or actions that will influence your partner (Kindschi,2013).Domestic violence studies provides that psychopathology, which happens when in violent environment in child development can make the argument of domestic violence progress of being a generational legacy (Kindschi,2013).I chose to write about the Feminist Theory to explain why people commit domestic violence. It believes that the root causes of domestic violence is the outcome of living in a society that condones aggressive behavior by men, while women
Many women are experiencing controlling and violent environment which should be about intimacy, love and care. In relation to this social justice issue, domestic violence all these theories can be applied effectively to assist in a practitioner’s work. Psychodynamic is a micro leveled practice involving more individualized work investigating the user’s unconscious behaviors and mental processors. Systems theory focuses on keeping a balanced equilibrium with marriage counselling and other forms of community assistance to help the user adapt to their environment. The critical perspective, feminist theory, works alongside the user in order to help identify social injustices and assists to empower and educate them.
The next topic is the effect domestic violence in the media has on children. Younger children often have a hard time deciphering between what is right and what is wrong, so when they are constantly seeing this type of abuse on tv and no one is there to tell them that it is wrong it makes them think that this type of abuse is ok. “Extensive research evidence indicates that media violence can contribute to aggressive behavior, desensitization to violence, nightmares and the fear of being harmed”. This type of exposure to children can have a big impact on their behavior and mental health
It is a known fact that women are the main victims of sexual violence because of their gender. Sexual violence has become such a popular act that a movement alluding to a series of political campaigns on women empowerment came to light in the 1940s; this movement was called ‘The feminist movement’. Women from all around the world had fought for gender roles, opportunities to a workplace, and numerous of women’s rights for many decades before several countries brought interest to feminism. Of course, many decades later feminism is still an important topic today worldwide. The only difference now is the way we are able to reach out to a bigger audience.
Both men and women fall victim unto sexual and emotional abuse. Girls, however, are more likely than boys to have experienced repeated severe violence. Aisha Gill, in her article Violence Against Women : Current Theory and Practice in Domestic Abuse, Sexual Violence, and Exploitation, studied the amounts and different types of abuse both men and women face in our modern society. The data showed that girls were significantly more likely than boys to experience sexual violence. Disconcertingly, 31% of girls and 16% of boys reported at least one experience of sexual violence (Gill, 109).
I will look at how it affects the women and whether can it be brought to an end by looking at what other authors say about this issue. I believe that there is no problem without a solution; I will therefore come up with possible solution that will end this issue. 1.5 Outline of arguments 1.5.1 Forgiveness I believe that if men can learn to forgive themselves and those who have wronged them, then women abuse will come to an end; since anger is one of the factors contributing to women abuse. Forgiveness solves everything and unloads the burden that you are carrying.
