Pop culture and media has labeled the shark as the most “horrifying” creature, but is considered as a passive animal. This horrifying creature is a vital part of the ocean's ecosystem like all predators. The advertisement is created by the World Wildlife Fund to send a message on to stop shark exploitation. It is located in the surrounding of the deep blue ocean. By one glimpse, the advertisement is mostly filled with the color dark blue, giving the status of dull and gloomy. The purpose is to inform people to raise awareness about the damage that we inflict on the ocean's ecosystem. The main focus is the contrast of two identical images. From this advertisement, the color of both images have a light blue color starting from the top fading into a dark blue color on where the white captions are being presented. This brings the intensity of color that can be focused on what the advertisement is stating. The first image is with a shark captioning “Horrifying.” This ties in to pop culture and media giving a popular belief of sharks being scary creatures. For example, the movie Jaws is based on a monstrous great white shark that attacks humans. It's bloody and gory giving sharks label as killers. The second image is with no shark captioning “More Horrifying.” Having the deep blue ocean filled with no sharks creates the attention to a social environmental issue. The audience can instantly tell the difference between two images with obvious contrast but can confuse with varies of reasons on why the shark disappeared as to being “More Horrifying.” For example, pollution, coastal development, overfishing, and exploitation.
