9) The testimony of the woman who lived across the el tracks a) The woman testified that she witnessed the murder being committed through the window of her home and the moving el train while in bed. The shooting of a Cache County Jail inmate that one Cache official said was an “uncomplicated case” which would only take a couple of weeks to complete is now in its fourth week. Details are still sparse concerning the Jan. 16 shooting that hospitalized an inmate who was shot will a non-lethal weapon. “He was not shot with a firearm but I can’t go into a lot of details,” said Lt. Doyle Peck, of the Cache County Sheriff’s Office. “It was a less lethal option, it was not life threatening in any way and he was given medical attention.” Cache County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy, Matt Bilodeau, said Peck’s two-week estimate was optimistic.
The authors of this journal discuss the healthcare systems cutbacks and its impact on the population. Every few years the Ontario government and the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) negotiate their contract called The Physician Services Agreement (PSA) The contract details how much physicians can bill for their services, as well as where health care funding should be invested in or where a cut back could be. In March of 2014, the contract had expired, which has led to negotiations for over the year. Over that year negotiations for the new PSA contract had many conflicts mostly due to the government’s goal try to end the province's deficit by 2017-2018.
Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.
We see multiple successes of voting equality attempted through amendments, however, the Supreme Court’s decision on Shelby County v. Holder has pushed back years and years of effort for voting rights. Supreme Court’s 5-4 ruling was in Shelby County’s favor, stating that the Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act was unconstitutional along with Section 5. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr, who wrote the majority’s opinion, said that the power to regulate election was reserved to the states, not the federal government. As a result to the court’s decision, the federal government can no longer determine which voting law discriminates and can be passed. After the case, many states had freely passed new voting laws; the most common voting law states passed
The system started in early twentieth century as a developed substitute to the classical mayor-based government. Phoenix was, in fact, one of the leading cities in the country to embrace the reform. The council-manager type of governance stresses qualified management over election politics. The council-manager type of governance is exceptional to the local government level but it is just like the Chairman/Board /CEO structure typically seen in private companies as well as hospitals, non-profit entities, and school
Life in Vicksburg has grown to be more and more difficult with each passing day. It has been about a month and a half since the Union began the siege and cut off the imports that the people of Vicksburg need to live and thrive. From the shortage of food to the lack of hope, every day has a common theme of despair within Vicksburg’s residents. Both my neighbors and I feel weak without proper nourishment from healthy food and clean water, but worst of all, we are unsure of how much longer this living nightmare will continue. I now feel obligated to change the way I have been living by, with great regret, deciding to surrender to the Union army.
Skateboarding, Baseball, Red Hot Chili Peppers: these are just a few things Los Angeles has become known for. But just one year after the city of St. Louis was left without an NFL team, San Diego has also fallen into a near identical situation. On January 12th, 2017, the Chargers’ ownership group announced the relocation of the team to Los Angeles. This has given " The City of Angels" their second NFL franchise in as many years. This move has also come as a shock to many NFL fans, myself included.
“The boy is five feet eight inches tall. His father was six feet two inches tall. That’s a difference of six inches. It’s a very awkward thing to stab down into the chest of someone who’s half a foot taller than you are. ”-(Juror two, 54)
In life some feel the need to prove something to others. That they are better, stronger, or even more intelligent. Whatever the case may be people will go through extreme measures to prove themselves. But who do we really need to prove anything to? Is it our parents?
NAME: DISCUSSION LEADER: Name: Discussion Leader: Approximately 50 errors. “ALIENS” “Good God hes taller then they said”, marveled Uncle Randolph. We were staring at the alien it had just exited the ship, and was staring back with it’s big eyes. “I thought all the scientist said that they were suppose to be little dudes, he must be eight feet at least!” Everybody in America seemed gripped by alien fever, I’d just read an article called, I Married an Alien in my favorite newspaper The New York Times.
Before South Dakota was admitted into the US, It was Sioux land and many other Native tribes land. “The Sioux and the Cheyennes became allies, and by the end of the 18th century, the Sioux had driven away other groups and claimed the Black Hills as sacred land, believing that they were the homeland they were destined to find” (Andrew Mathews 2015, p.10). How was South Dakota even included in the US? Well according to (Andrew Mathews 2015), the US government made false promises about the hills and has kept them ever since. Many Native Americans are not happy with this and just want their land back.
The story “Of Mice and Men” can be demonstrated as both positive, and negative depends on which perspective you are looking at. There are many fascinating points or events that take place. For instance in chapter 6, we see a side of George that many might say was surprising considering no one knew or expected him to kill his best friend, his partner in crime, the man that he said “I will protect Lennie”. Nobody really realized that he could or would commit such a harsh crime, but as you turn and look at why he did it. You might then soon be getting a different approach and meaning to things especially since he could have killed him because the thought of letting somebody else kill the only person who was down for him, was
Most juniors in government at Point Park aren’t usually in a position where they are responsible for an entire student body and administration. As for Blake King that is not the case. The 20-year-old and Philadelphia native spoke to a group of students about his presidency on Monday. As King nears the midpoint of his first presidency of USG, he still has goals he wants to implement for the remainder of his term. King wants to reconnect students, help clubs/activities, and find a way to connect with commuter students.
There are many pros and cons when it comes to the use of police force. The use of force is strictly a part of the job requirement of protecting and serving our community. It is the everyday battles that force police to make decisions that may seem a bit harsh at times. The use of force is only acceptable under certain circumstances and should only be used when absolutely needed. There are cases when civilians are saved by the use of police force, and there are cases when innocent people are hurt or even killed by the use of police force.
