A thorough discussion on the NMM website, survey and brief walk-through was completed with Ms. Phyllis Mattingly, Co-Owner of Shiloh Machine, LLC (the Company). The Company has participated in regularly scheduled voluntary annual inspections with the WCA. The safety of the Company 's employees is currently laying on Ashley Tshawncer, Human Resource Manager who has been on maturity leave and is expected to return in the next two weeks; however, when she returns she will only be available one day a week. A strong suggestion was given to Ms. Mattingly to consider delegating more safety responsibilities to the shop foreman because Ms. Tshawncer has many other responsibilities that demand her attention, leaving very little time to dedicate toward the success of the Company 's safety policies. A strong suggestion was given to update the Company 's General Safety and Health Program that is aligned with the industry and job tasks. An additional strong suggestion was given to develop, implement, train and enforce a Hearing Conservation Program and a Hot Work Safety Program for those employee who could potentially be exposed to occupational noise above OSHA 's action level of 85 db over an 8 hr. TWA, and for the one employee, who on occasion welds. The Company operates a very meticulous shop with strict standards on housekeeping. All walkways, exit and egresses were adequately marked, fire extinguishers were all properly mounted and inspected and all electrical panels adhere to the minimum of three feet of clearance and are clearly marked. The Company has replaced their older, more traditional milling machines with more updated CNC. "Most modern CNC machines are designed so that the cutting tool will not start unless the guard is in position."
