Cocaine is one of the worst drugs out there worldwide not just in the US. There was an epidemic over the use of cocaine but the government tried by banning the drug. There are many short and long term effects with this drug, it needs to stop being used in any practices. The drug has brought nothing but harm to the families that involved somebody using the drug cocaine Coca is one of the oldest, most potent and most dangerous stimulants of natural origin. Cocaine was first isolated in 1859 by German chemist Albert Niemann. Austrian psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, who used the drug himself was the first person to promote the benefits cocaine. In 2013, 411 people died from poisoning deaths from cocaine in Texas. The possession, sale, or even trafficking of cocaine is a felony. If a person even has gram on them of cocaine it’s a felony. The possession of more than 200 grams of cocaine can land you prison up to 99 years. Less than a gram of cocaine is state jail felony. There are many short and long term effects with the use of cocaine. A short term effect is a loss of appetite, increased rate of breathing, depression, and intensive drug craving. A long term effect of cocaine is destruction of tissues in nose if sniffed, liver, kidney and lung damage, severe tooth decay, malnutrition, weight loss, and permanent damage to the blood vessels of the heart and brain.
