In May of 1997 a young girl named Sherrice Iverson went to the woman's bathroom in a Nevada Casino. She was followed in by Jeremy Strohmeyer and later, David Cash. Cash left before he witnessed anything but failed to stop his friend who was restraining the young girl. Today he is enrolled at Berkeley University in California, and the question has been raised as to whether David Cash should be expelled from the university. David Cash should be expelled from Berkeley University as he shows no remorse towards her death and because there are more qualified students that could easily replace him.

Sherrice Iverson’s mother has protested Cash’s enrollment at Berkeley University. Her protests “have left many students, faculty and staff at the school questioning whether Berkeley can or should take action against a student for conduct that is not illegal, but which many consider to be immoral" (Morgan, Shunning and Shaming). Many students enrolled at Berkeley are of the opinion that Cash does not represent the morals that Berkeley strives to uphold. These students believe that Berkeley would benefit if Cash were not present on campus as the school would receive better reviews from sponsors and that those looking to register at Berkeley would be more inclined to join the school. Cash continues to show no remorse to the family or child affected. According to the article Creeps on Campus, "In a slew of media interviews, he [Cash] was quoted as saying that he was going to profit from the killing by selling the movie rights and, incredibly, that his notoriety was helping him pick up girls..." (Mckeen). Cash continues to show that he enjoys the media coverage which supports that he shows no remorse or guilt towards the incident. An article by Doug Bandow stated that, "He [Cash] covered his college dorm room with articles on the case." When Cash was confronted by media outlets he maintained that he felt there was nothing he could have done. He refuses to apologize to the young girl’s family justifying his response by stating that he didn’t know this little girl, or dark children in Panama, or those dying of disease in Egypt.
