October 20, 2016 Men and women of all ages are running in different directions and trying to find somewhere to hide. The police are now searching for the families that came across the broader; while successful in capturing this group of illegals, it is estimated that 720,000 Mexicans cross the border every year in search of what they call “The American Dream.” Some effort is made to find them, but there are still thousands upon thousands of Mexicans that cross the border and are living in America illegally. America we should strengthen and increase our efforts on finding, apprehending and deporting these illegal immigrants. One way this is happening is when these illegals are getting caught in a crime they are not deporting them they are putting them in our United States jails. “FAIR [Federation for American Immigration Reform] contends that certain states are especially burdened by illegal immigrant criminals. FAIR argues that illegal immigrants convicted of crimes should be deported from the United States” (“Illegal Immigrants”). In the 1980s there were fewer than 9,000 illegal aliens in our prisons. As of today, there are over 55,000 illegal aliens in our jails. This number keeps growing every year. “The estimated cost of incarcerating these criminal aliens at the federal level is estimated at $1.5 to $1.6 billion per year”(“Illegal Immigrants”). That cost only includes expenses in the federal prison system and the amount of money paid to state and local detention facilities in the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program. It does not include the costs of incarceration at the state and local level. It also does not include the related local costs of policing or the judicial system fees related to law enforcement against criminal aliens.
