One day, while in school, you got a call from the office that notified you that your parents are in the process of being deported, and there was a chance you would never see them again. What would you do? How would you feel? One factor in illegal immigration, is the fact that it tears families apart. Because of this, the government has to come up with an effective solution that benefits not only the US, but also illegal immigrants. Looking at all the options, the best solution would be to grant an amnesty. Congress has granted a total of seven amnesties, why deny one more? This amnesty would give the families of illegal immigrants a chance to live in peace, and not in the everyday fear that one day, one of their family members is going to be deported. When a non-citizen establishes the right to remain in the US, it is handled by the Executive office for immigration review (EORIR). An amnesty would be the solution for the millions of illegal immigrants just trying to survive. Is it logic that we send them back to a place they tried so hard to get away from? In contrast, others might say that illegal immigrants deserve to be sent back to their country, because they broke the law by coming here illegally. I respond to them, if these immigrants are able to obey the law, and not commit any types of crimes, they have the right to stay. As Mr. Obama, president of the United States suggested, “Amnesty is the immigration system we have today – millions of people who live here without paying taxes or playing by the rules, while politicians use the issue to scare people and whip up votes at election time.” This is why we need an amnesty, people believe that illegal immigrants are ruining the US, but at the same time these people are not giving them a chance to prove statistics
