In the 1800s, there was a two island that immigrants had to go to before stepping on America’s mainland; Ellis Island and Angel Island. At Ellis Island, two percent of immigrants out of seventeen million people were denied. In today’s world people are talking about illegal immigrants and how they come in all the time in the United States. There is many debates on whether immigrants should be let in America today or if they should be kept out. America is not as empty has it use to be, so we need to limit the people we let in. President Trump wants to keep immigrants out by building a wall. Also President Trump has banned travel from or to certain areas in the country. So how would this affect one of America’s motto “The Land of Opportunity”? We need to start to think of different options to figure out what exactly what we are going to do to with the immigration problems. With a new president, people are debating over the illegal immigrants.

Chain migration is having near relatives in the United States. Which by having a relative in the United States makes it you legally eligible to immigrate and guarantees you eventual admission. The reason we should get rid of chain migration is that is where a lot of immigrants come in. Sixty-four percent of legal immigrants were admitted simply because they had a relative here, which in 2001. If we have immigrants that have family in the United States come in, we should limited there stay. We should give them a certain number of days to stay before they have to leave. Also the relative has to show how they are related to the immigrant we legal papers. The immigrants should show a document of why there are coming in and if they plan to stay they have to get a green card holder (Permanent Resident), and follow all requirements to be a green card
