In 2014, there was 11.6 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. Documents are needed because they allow immigrants to live in the U.S. legally. Santiago, a father of four from El Salvador says, “I worry about me because I came to this country without papers (documents), and that is just one of my problems because without papers I cannot have a better and permanent job which I really want to have.” In other words, legal documents allow immigrants to acquire better jobs and live in the U.S. legally.
