Russ Carnahan said that “ 6.6 million people will benefit from a raise in the minimum wage”. In order to change many lives the minimum wage needs to increase. If the government raises the minimum wage many families would be benefit because they need to have a better salary in order to have the opportunity to live in better conditions, they would provide their children the opportunity to have a better education,and help end poverty. First, the minimum wage should be raised because many workers need to have a better salary. For example, the people who work in the fields need to get more money to feed their families. There are many people who work really hard and it’s unfair for them to get pay $9.00 per hour. An important reason why minimum wage needs to be raised is because many families that works in the fields do not have the resources to help their children to continue with their education. Jon Corzine, a politician ex senator, states “No family gets rich from earning the minimum wage in fact, the current minimum wage does not even lift a family out of poverty”.This means that the minimum is not really helpful and useful. It is significant because a lot of families have big dreams and they cannot make their dreams become true because they do not have enough money.
